What to prepare before handover
Keep the final drawing, accepted quotation, material and color sample codes, appliance list and written changes. Arrange for someone responsible to explain operation and record outstanding items. Check the latest approved drawing before treating a difference as an installation defect. The custom-kitchen process guide explains how handover relates to earlier decisions.
A checklist for the walkthrough
| Part | Practical check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Layout and units | Compare quantities, positions and materials with the approved scope | The affected unit and agreed specification |
| Doors and drawers | Operate normally and watch for rubbing or collisions | Location and a photograph or short video |
| Fronts and edges | Inspect colors, scratches and edges in clear lighting | A detail image and another showing the location |
| Worktop and cutouts | Check seams, edges, sink and appliance positions | Visible defects or differences from the drawing |
| Sink and water area | Ask the responsible installer to explain and check completed connections | Visible leakage or unfinished tasks |
| Appliances and ventilation | Check model, opening and maintenance access | Work still requiring the responsible specialist |
| Documents | Collect care, warranty and service information | Missing document and responsible contact |
Doors and drawers: test ordinary use
Operate each door and drawer, including corners and units beside walls or appliances. Check handle reach and conflicting openings, and ask which adjustments are intended for the user. Do not stand on drawers, press down on them or dismantle lift mechanisms. Record abnormal movement and leave diagnosis to the installer. See the hinge and drawer-runner guide for product-data questions.
Worktops, sinks and appliances
Inspect surfaces after packaging residue has been removed appropriately, while retaining any protection needed for outstanding work. Do not test a finish with a knife, hot pan or strong cleaner. Request the care instructions for the chosen worktop. Check access to serviceable components and unobstructed appliance ventilation. The responsible specialist must complete and check electrical, gas and water connections and appliance operation; a visual walkthrough does not replace that work.
Record observations that can be followed up
Use a precise description such as: “The lower drawer beside the sink rubs against the neighboring door.” Add a location photograph, a close-up, the date, the contact receiving the item and the agreed next action. Separate installation defects, unfinished scope and new changes you would like to request. Consolidate the observations into one shared list rather than relying on scattered messages.
Before everyday use
Ask about approved cleaners, water and heat precautions, accessory loads according to their specifications and the service process. Warranty terms and duration depend on the product and contract; keep the documents for your kitchen. Follow the post-installation care guide. Nano customers can use the maintenance and follow-up request form with project details and a description of the issue.
Frequently asked questions
Should a scratch and a rubbing hinge be one item?
Record each with its location and type because the remedy may differ.
Should I operate appliances myself during handover?
Ask the responsible installer to complete the connections and checks and explain operation. Do not operate an unfinished or apparently faulty installation.
What if some work remains?
List the outstanding items, responsible contact and next action in writing, then review the list when work is completed.
