What is a cladding kitchen?

A cladding kitchen has fronts faced with cladding panels, usually aluminum composite panels: two thin coated aluminum skins around a core. The result is a perfectly flat, evenly colored surface that is cut and fitted to the kitchen carcass. Its value is the modern look and easy wiping; the kitchen's lifespan still depends on the whole system: carcass, hinges, edges and installation.

Cladding kitchen colors

• Dark matte: charcoal, navy and matte black suit open kitchens with warm lighting.
• White and beige matte: make a small kitchen feel larger and hide fingerprints better than gloss.
• Stone and metallic effects: marble, concrete and bronze looks for feature fronts or an island.

Is cladding better than aluminum?

Not necessarily. Cladding is about the front's appearance, while performance depends on the whole system: carcass, hinges, edges, measurement and installation. Many kitchens combine an aluminum carcass with cladding fronts.

How much does a cladding kitchen cost per meter?

Is cladding fire resistant?

It depends on the core. Panels with a fire-retardant (FR) core are better near the hob; ask for the certificate of the product used in your kitchen.

Does cladding suit Eastern Province humidity?

The cladding surface does not absorb water, but edges and fixing around the sink are the weak point of any front. Ask how edges are finished and what carcass material sits behind them.
